Cognitive Assessments
Intellectual disability and giftedness.
Cognitive assessments are standardized tests used to evaluate a variety of cognitive processes such as language, problem-solving, and reasoning. These assessments help us to understand a person’s developmental level.
Looking Within use the Wechsler Preschool and Primary School Scales of Intelligence – 4th Edition (WPPSI-IV), the Wechsler Intellectual Scale for Children – 5th Edition (WISC-V), and The Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale – 4th Edition (WAIS- IV) to provide cognitive assessments (IQ Tests) across the lifespan.
Autism Spectrum
Multidisciplinary gold standard assessment approach which includes a psychologist and an Occupational Therapist.
Looking Within provide multidisciplinary assessments for autism across the lifespan. We follow the “National Guidelines for the Assessment and Diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder” and use gold standard assessment tools such as the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule- Second Edition (ADOS-2), the Autism Diagnostic Interview- Revised (ADI-R) and the Vineland-3. All our assessments include a comprehensive report.
Learning Disorders
Dyslexia, Dyscalculia & Dysgraphia.
Learning Disorder assessments evaluate a person’s academic ability and are often undertaken if a child is underperforming or having difficulty at school. The assessment results help to identify the academic strengths and weaknesses of a child and provide valuable information when assessing for learning difficulties.
Looking Within use the standardised Wechsler Individual Achievement Test (WIAT) and a cognitive assessment to assist in determining a child’s academic abilities relative to their cognition.
Attentional & Behavioural Disorders
Attention-Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) and Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD).
ADHD is a neurological disorder that makes it difficult for a person to pay attention and control impulsive behaviours.
Looking Within use a range of screening tools, comprehensive interviews and Diagnostic assessments to assist in determining a child’s difficulties with attention and hyperactivity. Our ADHD assessments can be conducted for children and adolescents from the ages of 6 to 17 years.
